Payton absolutely crushed her senior session at Retzer Nature Center in Waukesha, and this is exactly why I love photographing high school seniors.

Senior pictures shouldn’t feel like an hour of someone telling you to tilt your chin three degrees and awkwardly smile at a camera.

Payton is a Class of 2027 senior at Cudahy High School, and we headed to Retzer Nature Center for her senior pictures. Between the gorgeous natural scenery, variety of backgrounds, and Payton absolutely bringing it in front of the camera, this session gave us SO much to work with.

“I’m awkward in pictures.”

Here’s my biggest advice:

Wear something that feels like you.

Your senior pictures aren’t the time to suddenly dress like an entirely different human because Pinterest told you to.

Bring outfits you feel confident in.

Depending on your session, I usually love having some variety — maybe something casual, something a little more dressed up, and an outfit that shows off your personality or interests.
